Luck /lək/ (noun): chance considered as a force that causes good or bad things to happen.
Lucky Unlucky Designs is an independent brand based in California’s San Francisco Bay Area. Part art studio and part retailer, LUD is a menagerie of artwork steeped in big city life.
Works you’ll find here all started with humble beginnings - a simple sketch on paper that turned into much more. From paintings infused with a deep love of old school tattoo, to hand-pulled screen printed merch fueled by DIY spirit, we celebrate the underground we grew from.
Our mission is pretty simple - create quality pieces that unapologetically reflect who we are and where we’re from, representing the people, subcultures and many influences that formed us. You might see yourself in our reflection, too. So come along for the ride - let’s decorate the world.
Meet The Artist
Maria Tsasis is an artist and illustrator based in California. She started scribbling on things as a kid growing up in San Francisco and hasn't stopped since. She mainly likes to paint tattoo flash with watercolor, experiment chaotically with acrylic or whatever else is handy, and screen print the hard way. She also takes too many photos and occasionally fixes up old furniture (or random junk) she finds around town.
After a lifetime of indulging her creative tendencies, she finally took the plunge and began Lucky Unlucky Designs. Much of her work is influenced by her affinity for American Traditional tattoo, music, movies and her hometown. She takes inspiration from all that surrounds her - good, bad, lucky and unlucky.
